Updated Makeup Favorites

Hi beauties, so many of you have asked about what products i've been using as of late on instagram and via email over the recent months. I havent dont an updated makeup post in a whiiiile so its about time i share some of my new favorites and those items that i've been loving for years and years. I've been a makeup lover since i was able to hold lipstick in my own hands...lets just say i could apply it without a mirror and no smudges at age 4 (says my mama) lol. I'm pretty much wearing makeup in every Christmas family photo that i was allowed to.  Its pretty funny!  i was a girly girl but also a tom boy. With that said, i have tried my fair share of makeup, but im always on the look out for items that you can purchase at the local drug store for reasonable prices, however some items you do have to splurge on if you want the same quality.  So here are my current favorites that i use weekly:

Lets start with face... i have used both olay facewash and sensitive lotion for years! I swear by it. Its gentle and an easy routine. I wash my face and lotion twice a day, once in the morning and at night when im getting ready for bed.  After putting lotion on i use Mac studio fix powder foundation. Its so easy and takes me 1 minute to apply and it gives an overall even coat but its not too thick and has just enough coverage. Its pretty much the easiest/quickest way to do your face makeup. I use liquid foundation for special occasians but my everyday, work, and weekend look is with Macs studio fix.  Next I recently purchases this contour and blush pallet and its supppper affordable and does the job.  OKAY, now that highlighter by Becca is a MUST, i have never ever tried a better highlighter.  Its pricey but so so worth it. I apply it to the bridge of my nose and on my cheekbones when i want that glow! I posted the sephora brush i love for blush and bronzer.  I am a huge fan of Anastasia dip brow, its literally the best for brows.. you need an angled brush so i posted the one i've been using above.  I also sometimes use their pencil.  I do Revlon skinny liquid liner for my cat eye on the weekends when i want to add some drama.  I love smashbox exposure pallet that ive been using for almost a year, i use mostly the matte colors.  I found this Milani lipstick at the local drug store and i use the color "matte naked" #61 and its my favorite lipstick ive ever tried... its afforable at just $5 and its SO good you guys.  I sometimes do a tint of revlons "Premium Pink" posted above and this stays on for hours... i just do a tiny dab and rub it all over with my finger because its bright if you apply it like normal lipstick, this will last you forever because youre just using a teeny tiny bit for a little tint..i even put the Matte Milani lipstick over it for a slightly more pink nude, thats been my favorite the past few months mixing the two.    Okay, and lastly i have used the same Maybelline Volume mascara since 7th grade people!! Thats a lifetime, but this is theeee only mascara that comes close (and i might even say better because its all natural, organic, vegan paraban and preservative free) and its by Arbonne..love love love their mascara, ive been using it for a month and i am in love.  So there you have it ladies! You can order through my girl Kelly by shopping (here).  These are my current favorites and i swear by them!

I am dying to try Honest Beauties new line of natural organic products. If you ladies have any suggestions of makeup you love love love please share below in the comments section. Im always looking to try something new!

Lipstick Shades for the Fall/Winter Season:

Lipstick Shades for the Fall/Winter Season:

I dont know about you gals but I sure am excited for the holiday season to begin! Its Thanksgiving this week & we are taking our family photos this coming weekend so I have been thinking a little more about fun winter looks & thought I'd share some makeup looks with you all.

Here are three of my favorite lipstick shades to wear this season. I think its nice to change it up once in a while so I posted a few looks that i've tried recently and thought you girls might enjoy.  Id love to hear from you ladies what you like to wear, so stop by the comment section and let me know!

Mac "DIVA" lipstick is perfect for the holiday season. This is a great lipstick, its really fun to try a new look so whether you're going out with friends, going on a date, or celebrating the holidays with family its always nice to dress it up a bit and a dark berry lip will do the trick.

Premium Pink Revlon lip stain is my go to for my everyday look. It just gives me a pinch of color to brighten up the whole look. I only use a dab and i use my finger to smear it on. I can kiss my hubby & son all day long & it stays on for hours (without feeling chalky or sticky.. i top it off with chapstick).

This red lipstick is by Loreal & is called "Refined Ruby" (i added "lady bug" from Mac below and a couple other reds that i love). Its taken a while for me to find a red that i really LOVE for the holiday season and this one is my go to. Its a great drugstore find and is not expensive at all! You can go with a smokey eye or a more neutral eye.

Everyday Makeup Look: Great for Fall

An Everyday Makeup Look: Great for Fall

Taken in natural lighting without flash.

  Taken with a flash

I used Blush Brush Mac 161S, and two of their eyeshadow brushes 163S, and 165S

I use Loreal Brow stylist pencil to fill in any empty spaces in my eyebrows.  Eyebrows really help shape your face and can change your entire look

I used these three Mac eyeshadows: "Jest", "all that glitters", "sketch".  I use All that Glitters all over my eyelid below the crease. I use Jest in the corner of my eye on the top and bottom.  I use Sketch on the corner of my eyelid and the outer edge of my crease. Sketch is a great color for green eyes, it makes them pop! It has a bit of a maroon tint to it.  One that I didnt use that i LOVE is called Satin Taupe, i use it all over my lid by itself or will darken my crease with a tiny bit of matte brown shadow for more of a dramatic look.

I used the bronze color on the bottom right, this is from a Loreal eyeshadow palet. I use this under my bottom lashes on top of smudged black pencil eyeliner to soften the look.  I included the bronze shadow but its in a different palet now (mixed with a lighter gold).

I used the bottom brown matte color from a Lancome palet i have. I used this all over the crease of my eyelid. I included one similar below.

I put eyeliner half way on my top lid starting from the outside to the center of my eye and then i lightly line the bottom lashes and shade bronze over it to soften the look.   Then add mascara, bronzer(included below), blush and you are good to go!  I included my favorite mascara again because I get a lot of questions about which one I use.  These are all very neutral colors that you can play with and mix and match.

Everyday Makeup Essentials

Everyday Makeup Essentials

photo cred: www.kelseysteindler.blogspot.com Kelsey Steindler Photography. Here im wearing alot of the products i listed.

My Go To's:

I have had a few of you ask my about what mascara i use, concealer etc. so I thought i'd do a quick post on some of my favorite every day products.  The question I am asked most often is about my mascara.. I have used the same mascara for 13 years now (they've changed the bottle a few times but its the same mascara).  I have tried multiple kinds and nothing compares to this mascara (we're talking lancome, mac, clinique etc and still this drug store mascara takes the cake).. its called Volume by Maybelline (click the link to see the exact one, as maybelline has quiet a few different selections)

I also get asked about what time of lipstick I use.. as mine always stays on for multiple hours and doesn't fade away. I use more of a tint than anything and i layer it with chapstick. I've been using this for years as well. Its called Revlon color stay (you can click the link below to view the different options for colors.. i use premium pink). I just do a tiny dab (tear drop size) on my finger or lower lip and use the tip of my finger to blend it into both lips. You dont need much, this stuff goes a long ways.  It stays on for hours, you can eat, kiss, work out, and this tint will give your lips a nice touch of color. I put strawberry 'chapstick' on top to make sure my lips stay moist. Ive tried a ton of different color stay products for lipsticks and all of them either clump or come off right away or in pieces.. this doesn't do that, it goes on smooth and the chapstick is the perfect touch. I get a lot of compliments on this chapstick because its not the typical cherry flavored chapstick, its strawberry and harder to find (it sort of smells like cotton candy people say, they can smell it when i put it on even from a distance) I think its delicious.

I use Mac studio fix powder (NC 30 is my current color.. when i am not tan) its linked below.   I'll use this every day after putting on Olay face lotion (the one below).  On weekends if we go out somewhere i'll sometimes put on concealer (my favorite is below.. colorstay revlon) its not too thick but covers blemishes well.  For extra special occasions i'll use Revlon Colorstay foundation (it doesn't crease and they have a pretty good selection of colors).
My drug store blush and bronzers are both a matte finish (its more natural this way.. i use True Match powder W6 for bronzer, and True Match blush W5-6 for blush).
Mac's highlighter listed below (strobe liquid) is a good one i use for nights out.
.

Maybelline Mascara · Revlon Eyeliner · L'Oreal Eyeliner

I put some of my simple everyday eye shadows above (always stick with neutral colors for day time).  My go to eye shadows from Mac are not below but are similar to the revlon colors i posted  (i use mac Sheeth (blend in the crease with lancome brown), Mac "Jest" to highlight under brows and  on eye lid,  satin taupe (my favorite), and mac 'All that glitters' all over the lower lid

I really like Loreal carbon black pencil for every day eyeliner. You can smudge it so its less harsh looking and smear some eyeshadow on top.  It stays on all day and never ends up below my eye like some of the other ones i've tried.  For a more dramatic effect on nights when we go out ill sometimes use liquid liner, above is a newer one i've been using for the past 6 months or so & i really like it. Its easy to use & gives a straight line for that sexy cat eye. For a good inexpensive red lip i go with Maybelline Ruby star (has a bit of sparkle to it) or Loreal Refined Ruby (matte no sparkle).

Lastly, for everyday use: my night time routine is to wash all this off with the Olay face wash i listed above. I have used Olay face wash and lotion for so long, i love it and have nothing but praise for this drugstore find.  Before putting on face lotion at night ill use Clean & Clear astringent (i stick with this one because i like the way it smells after, it leaves a sweet smell verses an alcohol smell).

There you have it, some of my favorite & long lasting products. Enjoy!
